Bougival - France

Bougival is the site of the River Seine resort known as La Grenouillère where Monet and Renoir worked together for the first time. In canvases almost identical in style, they made rapid notations of pleasure-seekers and bathers, rowboats bobbing in the foreground, and the scintillating reflections in the lapping water. It was here that Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev, the Russian novelist, poet and playwright, died in 1883 as did Bizet, the French composer in 1875. From Bougival you can visit picturesque Auvers sur Oise.
