Qena - Egypt
Qena (Kena) is a city on the banks of the River Nile in Upper Egypt 36 miles (50km) downstream of Luxor. From here you can visit the modern town of Dendera, built on the ancient site of Tentyra dedicated to the sky and fertility goddess Hathor whose temple here is one of the best preserved in Egypt. You can also visit the sacred city of Abydos, one of the most important archaeological sites of ancient Egypt, a royal necropolis of the first two dynasties and later a centre of pilgrimage for the worship of Osiris.
