Kanowit - Malaysia

Kanowit is an important Rajang township built at the mouth of Kanowit River where it joins the Rajang River. The town centre consists of three streets of 1930s vintage Chinese shophouses, almost half of which seem to contain coffee shops, near the waterfront. The best sightseeing can be had by walking along the riverside and you can visit the Brooke Raj Fort Emma, built of wood and surviving intact after 150 years. You can explore deeper inland by long boat up the Kanowit River.
