Tunica - USA, Mississippi

Tunica is the largest casino resort between Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Set on the Mississippi River, it was once heavily forested and the area is dotted with a series of Indian mounds, some of the remnants of an ancient civilisation that once populated the area. Settlers brought agriculture to the area and the historic downtown with its turn of the century buildings. The casinos arrived in 1990 when the stae's gambling laws were changed. Apart from the casinos, other sights in the town include the Tunica Museum, Tate House - the oldest residence in Tunica, Bluesville/Blues and Legends Hall of Fame Museum and the Tunica RiverPark museum.
