Isle of Berneray - UK, Scotland

South of the Isle of Barra lies the uninhabited mountainous island of Berneray where at Barra Head 1,000ft/300m cliffs plunge into the sea. The island is 110 miles/180 km off the northwestern coast of Scotland. The beautiful, treeless, windswept Outer Hebrides islands with their mountainous spine are in an area where the land seems to blend with the water in countless lochs, rivers, inlets and pools. This is a place for solitude and the contemplation of nature, where the air is as tangible as the land. The island is a nature reserve with important breeding populations of Razorbills, Guillemots, Black Guillemots, Puffins, Fulmars and Shags.
