Kekova Island - Turkey

Kekova Island, off the southwestern coast of Turkey is the place to see Batik Sehir, the sunken city running along the eastern shore of the island. Demolished by an earthquake, all of the houses, steps and arches that once made up this now submerged Byzantine settlement can be seen quite clearly. On the opposite shore the ruin of Kalekoy Castle with its rock-cut amphitheatre, built by the knights of St John, overlooks the cluster of simple houses that form the village of Kale (ancient Simena). Visit the well preserved collection of Lycian sarcophagi lying in the olive groves and ruins of public baths on the shore. The following 1 cruises call at Kekova Island.
