Porto Rotondo - Sardinia, Italy

Porto Rotondo, on the east coast of Sardinia is only a few kilometers from Olbia. It is a purpose built seaside resort town on the northern side of the promontory Monte Ladu. Porto Rotondo owes its name to a cove along the Costa Smeralda, which describes a nearly perfect circle. It has marina, overlooked by rows of bright coloured villas and the Piazzetta San Marco has shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Stairs lead up to the lovely granite church of San Lorenzo in which there ae 200 wooden statues representing sacred scenes and close by a modern Amphitheatre, also built entirely of granite, for summer entertainment. Around the headland to the north there some beautiful but busy beaches.
