Ile a Vache - Haiti

The island of Vache (Cow Island) owes its name to the large numbers of cattle that used to roam here. It lies off the southern coast of Haiti, close to the town of Les Cayes. This is a quaint Caribbean isalnd with a beautiful beach, dense mango foliage and a history of pirates including the infamous Captain Morgan. It was here that in 1670 Morgan assembled an expedition of 36 ships and over 1800 men and decided to attack Panama, the legendary Spanish city of the Indies.
