Itea - Greece

Itea, in the Gulf of Corinth, is the port from which you can visit Delphi and the monastery of Osiou Louka near Distomo. Docking at the pier close to the centre of town, a twenty minute bus or taxi journey takes you to Delphi, perhaps the most magical classical site in Greece. Moni Osiou Louka (Monastery of St Luke Stiris) is further and also in an idyllic setting with wonderful views - its main church includes some of the finest Byzantine frecoes in Greece and interiors of marble, mosaics and icons. During the European Middle Ages, Itea, the ancient Chaleion, supplanted the 6th century BC port of Cyrrha (Kírra), situated just southeast of Itea. The following 15 cruises call at Itea.
