Frankfurt on Oder - Germany

Frankfurt on the Oder lies 56 miles (90 km) east of Berlin at a strategic crossing point of the River Oder. A prosperous trade centre in the 13th century it became a member of the Hanseatic League. However at the end of WW2 the town was burnt to the ground except for five old houses. Rebuilt with some interesting architecture, sights include St Gertraudkirche, the 14th century Rathaus, the Kleist Museum and the Konzerthalle CPE Bach.
