Kuntaur - Gambia

Kuntaur is 270 km upstream on the Gambia River and the last port accessible by sea going vessels. Today it is still a thriving port and gives access to the to the amazing River Gambia National Park , a sanctuary for chimpanzes, hipos , Nile crocodiles and numerous bird species. Kuntaur is also our gateway to the Wassu Stones site which contains some impressive burial stones dating from 400AD to 1000AD. There is also a very useful museum which has models and photographs which help to show the history of the stones.
